Aboriginal and Islander Education Officers (AIEOs) play a key role in supporting Aboriginal students at Karratha Primary School. They help provide a supportive and safe environment, and work with teachers to help improve engagement, attendance, achievement and retention.
By being a positive role model, our AIEOs help our Aboriginal students set aspirations and aim for excellence. They assist teachers in recognising diverse perspectives that Aboriginal students bring, and provide advice on teaching content about Aboriginal histories, peoples, cultures and languages. We believe when students feel proud and strong in their cultural identity, their learning, motivation and performance at school thrives.
